Nutrition

Proper nutrition is essential for a rabbit's health. A rabbit's diet will normally consist of unlimited hay and water, a nice selection vegetables, a limited amount of pellets and a small amount of fruits.

Find below a list of acceptable foods our bunnies enjoy to eat.

Alfalfa Hay
rabbits nutrition alfalfa hay

Most likely rabbits prefer alfalfa hay over timothy or grass hay. But Alfalfa hay contains more protein and calcium than most rabbits require. Excess protein can lead to weight gain and excess calcium can cause health problems.
That's why Alfalfa hay can be considered as a treat for rabbits and should be given in limited quantities or be mixed with grass or timothy hay.

Apple

Most rabbits love apples, but they must be offered in small amounts due to the high sugar content. A slice of apple can be offered once a day depending on the rabbit’s weight. Any pits or seeds should be removed as they may be poisonous.

Basil

Most rabbits like basil but they may not eat too much of it.
Basil has an appetizing, antispasmodic and calming effect.
